[J-Rock/Manila] L’Arc~en~Ciel World Tour Voter Registration + L’Arc~en~Ciel Philippines

I know it’s late, and the fandom has been crazy about this since the voting began. I, myself, refreshed the freakin’ L’Arc website for FIVE hours just to vote. But no worries now because the site is running smoothly. And so it seems that the voting is still on-going. HERE.

As we all know, or if you don’t, J-Rock monster band L’Arc~en~Ciel has announced that they will have a SECOND world tour. In line with that, they are currently having this voting system in their website so that their fans can vote for their country + city, which L’Arc will consider to add in their next world tour.

You can go here to vote: http://larc-en-ciel.com/voter/

No, but really, if you have a heart, VOTE FOR MANILA, PHILIPPINES.

I really do hope they come to Manila soon. But I think it won’t be until their 25th anniversary that they will hold another massive tour like their first one.

When Manila, as expected, wasn’t included in their first World Tour, it was a disappointment. I mean, they considered other Southeast Asian countries, like performing in Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia for the first time. So, like? What? 😐

I, back then, originally planned to just go overseas, to these neighboring nations, just to see the band that changed my life. Unfortunately, though, things didn’t go well because some of the schedules were on school days (and I can’t risk NOT attending classes on my graduating semester), and my passport has not been renewed on time. It sucks.

It was a let-down. You don’t know how frustrated I was, how heartbroken I was when I wasn’t able to go to their Singapore live. No, REALLY, you have NO idea. 😐  God, days before their Bangkok live, I actually dreamed that I was there, crying and singing along to “Anata.” Devastating.

And what’s worse was that I am actually torturing myself whenever I read concert reports for each their lives. Technology has been awesome, nowadays. Back then in my childhood, fangirling was HARD. YouTube wasn’t even in existence.

Going back to the concert reports, reading them was both pleasure and disappointment. As I read the accounts of the hard-core fans, it felt like I was also standing there in the concert venue, watching the rainbow boys unfold to spread their colorful music to the world. However, it was a let-down when I saw some of the fans from news reports from various Japanese channels. You know about the portions, in which the media outlets, interview some fans briefly outside the concert venue after the live? THOSE. Some of those reports irritated me. Like hell.

Those reports were irritating. I mean, it was just right after the concert of Japan’s rock legends.  While yes, as I can see that the fans were very satisfied happy by seeing them. I think it wasn’t enough. 😐  I don’t know. I couldn’t explain it. I couldn’t explain how they looked in front of the camera when they all expressed they were happy about the live. I don’t know. Maybe because if it were me being interviewed there, my eyes would be full of tears, so overwhelmed by the fact that I just saw Hyde, Ken, Tetsuya, and Yukihiro for real. Not through a concert DVD. But for real.

Or maybe I do admit that I was jealous of them. Because when I read concert report after the other, I knew that the band’s new fans already got the chance to see them. 😐 New fans, who are currently on a roll in downloading their music. But wait for five years, they may have already shifted to a different fandom, while L’Arc’s on a hiatus. I, myself, have loved the band for YEAAAAAARS. Nearly a decade now. My feelings towards the band run deeper than just being merely being a “fan.” No, really. My relationship with the band’s music GREATLY surpasses that. You have no idea how much they changed my life. And how they affected me, making me the person that I am today.

But I guess, it’s better this way? For me to wait a bit longer to see them. Because time only strengthens the feeling. I proved that when Super Junior first held a concert in our country in 2010. I was there, at the moshpit with my friend, who has also been a fan of the group since their “U” era (2006) — WAAAAY back when they were the babies of K-Pop and WAAAAY before they became a hit worldwide.

Like I said, I was there in the moshpit with my friend, Gail. As we waited for Super Junior to come out, I found myself shaking uncontrollably, as if a volcano was about to erupt on the stage. The next second, I was crying. I cried, telling myself at that time, “Oh my god. It’s real. Super Junior in the flesh. It’s surreal. Four years. I’ve waited for four years for this.”  I couldn’t believe it. In 2006, I never would have thought that K-Pop would make a spill-over. And fellow old fans know the hardships we had to go through just to be updated with an underground genre like J-Pop, K-Pop, and C-Pop.

And then, bam. There they were in front of me. Gail was crying, too. I hugged her because I knew that she was only one of the few who could understand me in this excruciating long wait. Because when I looked around the moshpit, no shit, the people there were not as emotional as we were. And then it hit me, Super Junior only went mainstream in 2009. One year. The other fans have only been with Super Junior with one year – with torrents, with YouTube, with no hardship at all. And yes, I realized then and there that staying in the fandom longer meant deeper relations with the artist and their music. Before you knew it, you couldn’t even picture your life without hearing their songs, nor seeing them perform.

So, yes. I will wait for L’Arc~en~Ciel. There will be a perfect time for me and the band. Someday. Because I know that I will still be their follower even for the next two decades to come.

ALSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO………

With this whole World Tour voting going along, along with the frustration that Manila wasn’t included in the first World Tour, the Filipino fans came alive and are now more eager than ever to campaign for L’Arc’s visit here. And that gave birth to the L’Arc~en~Ciel Philippine Street Team! 🙂 Now, for starters, this is a separate group from the already-existing L’Arc~en~Ciel Philippines Fans Club (LPFC), but are one in the same in hoping for L’Arc’s visit here.

So if you guys are interested. Follow the L’Arc~en~Ciel Philippine Street Team’s account if you want your daily dose of L’Arc news and spazzing. ❤

Here they are:

Oh and has anyone seen the scans for WHAT’s In? magazine’s July issue with Hyde on the cover? PERFECTION.

  1. Hi Lara! I myself am not reading the concert coverage of some blogs I’m following for the very same reason – I’m jealous. Really. I’ve been avoiding all these barrage of L’Arc news because of the fact that I cannot go. While I don’t consider myself an old fan of them (in comparison of course to the length of time you’ve been one,) I can say that I was one who loved them before their worldwide popularity really really exploded like crazy because the Internet and social media suddenly became bigger, wayyy bigger than it used to be. A friend of mine told me (in passing) about the Street Team. Will check it out later! And yeah, L’arc visiting Manila is much more possible now. But I think there’s still a relation with CD sales. If more people buy their CDs, more added chance of them coming (plus the valuable efforts of the fans and the fanclubs.) When I mean CD sales, I mean yun talagang officially available dito sa atin. Meron ba? Di na ako updated due to work, life, and all (sa inyo lang ako nakakakuha ng update, pati sa plurk) pero kung meron, bibilin ko paisa-isa. >.<
