Comments from newly-departed and remaining NEWS members, reports TV Asahi.

Tomohisa Yamashita:

“One of my biggest achievements has been to be able to work in a group called NEWS, and to have had so many fans support us.  Going solo will be a challenge.  I know that it’ll feel different and I’ll go through hard times unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, but I want to use the skills that I’ve learned in NEWS to each and every job I do from now on.  I’ll do my best and stay focused so I hope I can stay good rivals with the other five guys.”

Ryo Nishikido:

“It has been an amazing experience to have been given the chance to work in both NEWS and Kanjani8, and I want to say a huge thank you to all of my fans who supported the Nishikido in NEWS.  Being part of two groups, there were scheduling conflicts that couldn’t be resolved no matter how hard I tried.  I felt bad because it was getting very difficult to plan CD releases and concert tours on both sides, which ultimately lead to this decision.  I wish Koyama, Kato, Masuda, and Tegoshi all the best in delivering a new NEWS.”

Keiichiro Koyama:

“We talked over and over again until we reached this decision.  We might be working separately now, but the four of us will carry on what we have all done for the past 8 years.  We promise to work harder than we ever have, and we will move forward.  I hope you will continue to support us.”

Shigeaki Kato:

“I want to take this decision in up front, and work as hard as I can to build a new NEWS.  I hope that you will continue to support the two and four of us from now on like you always have.”

Takahisa Masuda:

“I love the NEWS we have built together, and all these guys will still be my best friends.  And to all of the fans who have supported the group that I love, you’re still my best friends too.  These two will be working separately from us now, but I promise to work as hard as I can so that you’ll continue to support us.”

Yuya Tegoshi:

“I want to say I’m sorry to all of the NEWS fans who have waited so long for us to get together again.  But I want to think positively about this move, and work hard to be able to make great music because it’s for you, the fans who I love, and who have always supported us.  We’ll be different, but I hope we can still love one another.  I hope you will continue to support us.”

YAMAPI, I LOVE YOU. BUT FOR NOW I CAN’T EVEN.

Yamapi and Ryo Leave NEWS

Just when I was about to write about some personal shiznit feelings, this news came in from my fangirl friends:

Yamashita Tomohisa and Nishikido Ryo, members of the popular idolgroup NEWS announced today through their agency Johnny’s that they are withdrawing from the group.

Yamashita will continue with his solo projects, Nishikido will continue as a member of Kanjani8. Koyama Keiichirou, Katou Shigeaki, Tegoshi Yuya and Masuda Takahisa will continue as NEWS, now a 4-member group.

From: http://news-jpop.livejournal.com/6394004.html

When I read that, I instantly cried. Until now, I’m still crying. Oh for those who do not know, NEWS is a six-member group from male idol factory Johnny’s Entertainment. And mind you, ALL of their singles since their debut have topped the Oricon Charts.  They debuted in 2004, and I’ve been fangirling them since 2005. </3

My fangirl friends and I have all been waiting in like, forever, for any new release from them — a single, mini album, ALBUM, tour, or what. ANYTHING. We’ve been waiting for a long time. Their last single “FIGHTING MAN” was released like a year ago? It’s only been a year, fine, but still during that time and their “Sakura Girl” era, their promotions have become less and less. And while the other Johnny’s groups are all actively releasing new material, only NEWS was left stagnant.

AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS.

To be honest, we kind of had it coming. The foul stench of disbandment had already been circulating in the fandom since YamaPi began his solo promotions, and Ryo who is also busy promoting with his other group Kanjani8. But you know, they’ve been doing that for YEARS already. And everytime they’re done with their activities, they always end up going back to their original group NEWS to promote. So like I said, it’s been YEARS already. Why falter now?

I’m sure that the two have their reasons and as a fan I don’t want to judge them, but what can I do? I’m sad right now. So forgive me for hating on Pi and Ryo right now. Later on when I’ve calmed down and the two have made comments regarding their withdrawal from the group, maybe I’ll find it in my heart to try to understand them.

I’m frustrated. I love NEWS. I LOVE THEM. Add to that the fact that my favorite groups are all disbanding.  Or has members who left. Think TVXQ, Fahrenheit, and KAT-TUN. What’s next then? BIGBANG? GOD FORBID, NO.

[J-Pop] Yamapi’s Sister loves TVXQ

Tomohisa Yamashita aka Yamapi (leader of popular JPOP group NEWS) has a sister that loves TVXQ/ DBSK / Tohoshinki. The sister is Yamashita Rina and she wrote on her personal blog on how awesome of a time she had at the TVXQ Concert in Saitama.

Yamapi and Yamashita Rina attended the concert with their mother, who’s also a big fan of TVXQ. While Rina is a big fan of Jaejoong and Micky, her mother is a big fan of Yunho. Yamashita stated that she waited forever for the concert and that it was 3 full hours of great entertainment. She also noted that all the boys are very handsome and they have great vocal talent. She wrote that she felt bad for Junsu because he’s performing on his leg even though he hurt it not too long ago.
