Last 17 September 2013,the second 2013 Hallyu Forum was held at Manila Hotel. Aptly titled “New Wave of Cinema: Connections, Convergence, and Cooperation,” the discussions centered on important periods and factors that shaped Philippine and Korean cinema, as well as prospects for a collaboration between the two countries.
The forum was divided into three panels. The first panel was about the film industry in the Philippines, and it was composed of Prof. Patrick Campos, Prof. Roland Tolentino, and Mr. Tito Genova Valiente.
The second panel talked about the Korean film industry, which saw the presentations of Ms. Park JiYin and Mr. Jung Tae Sun. Filipino filmmaker Mr. Ato Bautista, on the other hand, discussed the Korean film industry from a Philippine perspective.
Lastly, cultural exchanges and collaborations were the focus of the third panel. Mr. Pepe Diokno was not able to make it to the event, but his presentation was read by Mr. Jade Castro. The rest of the panel was composed of Mr. Jonathan Kim and Prof. Jag Garcia.
