‘JUAN FOR TREE: Sierra Madre Tree Planting project’


To quote from the Minggan – UP Manila Facebook Page:

“Sierra Madre is the last frontier in the Philippines. It is the largest remaining tract of old-growth tropical rainforest. However, Sierra Madre is under threat due to large-scale mining, massive logging, commercial tourism and construction of mega-projects.

The students of Development Studies 127 in cooperation with Danggayan Dagiti Mannalon Ti Isabela (DAGAMI) and Minggan-UP Manila bring you ‘JUAN FOR TREE: Sierra Madre Tree Planting project’. Buy a seedling for P80 (fruit-bearing species) or P100 (hardwood species) and that tree will be named after you. Help Sierra Madre and the environment!

-Red Lauan (Shorea negrosensis)
-Apitong (Dipterocarpus grandiflorus)
-White Lauan (Pentacme contorta)

Fruit-bearing Species (80 pesos)
-Calamansi (Citroortunella microcarpa)
-Suha/Pomelo (Citrus maxima)
-Avocado (Persea americana)
-Langka/Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus)
-Guyabano (Annona muricata)
